<Owl to Octavius, 8:00 am>

Father,

Just checking to see if you got my message yesterday, since I didn't recieve an answer yet. In case you didn't, get my message, I was wondering if you would talk to Alphard Black and see if it would be okay for me to take Narcissa Black to the Yule and/or Halloween ball.

That is all. I apologise for the brevity, but it's almost breakfast time.

Father,

Just checking on the status of your visit to the Blacks. Don't want you to forget or anything, since I know how busy you get.

Father,

Haven't received any replies yet. I'm just checking to make sure Morpheus isn't having any problems delivering the post.

Father,

Have you spoken to Alphard yet?

<Owl to Octavius, 12:00 pm>

Dad,

Still no word from you. Just figured I'd check to make sure lines of communication were clear. Looks like they are.

YOU HAVE TO SPEAK TO ALPHARD TODAY. RIGHT NOW. DROP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND GO SEE HIM, THIS IS A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION!

</owl>

<Owl to Lucius, 6:00 pm>

Lucius,

Calm down. It's just a ball, and just a girl. There are far more important things for you to be worried about, like your grades or whether or not Regulus is going to strangle you in your sleep. I will talk to Alphard when I get a chance, but quite frankly it's not high up on my list of priorities.

<Owl to Lucius, 8:00 pm>

Lucius Draco Augustus Malfoy, I am not in the least bit amused by you going over my head to your mother. That woman spoils you too much, and you're damn lucky that you're all the way in Wales and out of my reach.

I most certainly did not tell you that Narcissa was a harlot and not worth your time. You know your mother favours her for you, how dare you get me on her bad side that way?

I'll have you know that for this week that I'm sleeping on the couch, you are going to the Halloween ball with Molly Prewett Narcissa Black.

Your mother was reading over my shoulder and made me cross that out. Rest assured that if I were actually in charge of this family instead of just pretending to be you'd be very unhappy right now.

Prat. You're turning out like your uncle Tom.

First day back... [12 Jun 2004|01:03am]

Lucius Malfoy
In compliance with new urgings from the school administrators, i.e., Professor Llewelyn threatening to beat me with the wet end of Lestrange's manually removed limbs, I have made a very hard decision. On one hand, Muggle technology, with it's pointless whirrings and disturbingly breakable parts, does not appeal to me. This flimsy keyboard, for instance, will not live to see next month considering the things we do in this common room. I'm willing to bet fifteen galleons that it's the first thing to go when Regulus is offering Lestrange candy to break things on his thick skull.

On the other, I do so enjoy being able to walk, and this ability tends to disappear once one has two permanently broken legs.

And so here I sit, typing away on this monstrosity as if perhaps a small taste of anonymity will cause me to go incurably odd in the head and make me start spilling my secrets willy-nilly. And I think we all know what happens once things start going willy-nilly, oh yes. Sheer madness, I say. Madness.

And now, I've things to do and owls to write. Since I asbolutely refuse to do this stupid assignment on my own, I am sharing a journal with Lestrange and Regulus, as I'm afraid of what they'd do with one of their own if left to their own devices.

<Owl to Octavius Malfoy - Septembre 1, 8:30 pm>

Father,

Arrived at Hogwarts safe and sound, as per usual. The train ride was uneventful, unless you count the point in time wherein Lestrange pulled a rather large tuna from his shorts, but that's par for the course. He gets bored very easily, and I'd forgotten to set my wand up so I could shock him whenever he started acting too stupid for his own good.

I'm sure you recall the trip to King's Cross, when I mentioned a certain young lady by the name of Narcissa Black. I request a favour, for it's unbecoming of a gentleman to not go through the proper channels. I would like to accompany Miss Black to this year's Halloween and/or Yule ball, but it would not be right to approach her without first securing her father's favour. As disappointing as such an instance might be, I would not want to attempt courting Miss Black if her father has already chosen her a suitor.

Please speak to Alphard Black and determine, if possible, if I might be allowed to escort his daughter to the aforementioned dances without risk of being murdered.

Speaking of which, an interesting thing happened about an hour ago. There we were, halfway through dinner with Regulus flinging blood pudding at first years and Lestrange refusing to eat any food that did not begin with an 'R', when Albus Dumbledore oh-so-rudely interrupts the quaint chatter by choking rather disgustingly.

I don't think I can quite describe how quickly seeing a skinny old man spitting semi-chewed bits of corned beef down into his unkempt beard can make one lose one's appetite. And then he had the nerve to die right there, before I was even remotely done my Yorkshire pudding. To top it off, I had to stand around with a bunch of jumped up Gryffindors until we could all be ushered to our common rooms and glared at like a bunch of slack-jawed criminals. Tell Uncle Tom I said gee, thanks, and don't skimp on the sarcasm.

On the plus side, classes have been postponed for three days at least, and the crazy old bat is dead. Something not right with that man if you ask me, the way he always goes around offering kids candy.

Please, again, speak to Alphard Black and write back.
